Typhonicus Flavius Balbus

typhonicus.jpg The Romans were able to easily invade Megalopolis due to the corrupting influence of one Typhonicus Flavius Balbus; long before the Legions set their sights on using the city as a staging area for the siege of Sparta, the corrupt noble had wormed his way to governorship while others indulged in the temptations of the flesh. Rather than see his citizenry lost, he was able to negotiate an alliance with the Dictator Sulla, who declared Megalopolis and its surrounding area the newest province of the Roman Republic. With the majority its soldiers conscripted into the march on Sparta, those Romans who stayed have found themselves taken to worshipping the newest matron of the city, Trivia. Those that have not succumbed to debauchery have been quietly rebelling against the city’s government, something that is making the increasingly-decadent Praetor desperate for some sort of peace.

Or so it was said. In truth Typhonicus was the Red Dragon Typhon, child of Gaia and servant of Hecate. Rather than let his minions get all the glory, he decided to try and defeat (and eat) the heroes and gain their power when they rejected Hecate’s final offer. With his defeat, they have set themselves down the path with one eventual, final confrontation with the Mother of Monsters (as she is now called).
